If you find a PA you would like to talk to please contact them using the details provided on their contact sheet. Please note the following:
- Your PA will be employed by you and you will need to send them details of the job (including terms and conditions) in writing. You need to give your employee a written statement of employment if you’re employing someone for more than 1 month and you will need to do this within the first eight weeks of employment.
- You will need to pay them the agreed hourly rate (The PA rate you receive as part as your direct payment is calculated to allow you to pay your PA the Scottish Living Wage for Care Workers currently £12.00 per hour **Scottish Living Wage - https://scottishlivingwage.org/what-is-the-real-living-wage/
- You will pay the annual leave, national insurance (where applicable), tax (where applicable) and pension contribution (where applicable) for your PA and provide them with a payslip each time they are paid. You may choose to engage the services of a Bookkeeper to assist you with this.
- You will need to register as an employer with HMRC - you can do this up to 4 weeks before you pay your new staff. You may choose to engage the services of a Bookkeeper to assist you with this.
- You will need to take out Employer’s Liability Insurance as soon as you become an employer.
- You will need to check that your PA has the legal right to work in the UK.
- Your PA and PVG scheme: PVG – *this is strongly recommended. and will soon be compulsory* Read more here--> Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot
- SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) registration SSSC work means the people of Scotland can count on social services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce. Keep informed with news, training etc from the SSSC and the social service sector: www.sssc.uk.com and www.ssscnews.uk.com Tel: 01382 346428
- Check if you need to automatically enrol your PA into a workplace pension scheme. You may choose to engage the services of a Bookkeeper to assist you with this.
